Help with course updates to groups, where to add MongoDB users, IP whitelist, and cluster name changes within Atlas.

There have recently been a few changes in the Atlas UI that have not been reflected in some MongoDB University course content. Please note the following changes:

  • Groups are now called projects. If needed, you can edit your project name by clicking “settings” in the left hand navigation menu on your cluster overview page.

Cluster Name:

Once a cluster has been deployed, the name of your cluster cannot be modified. If needed, you can terminate your current cluster, and deploy a new one with the correct name. Please note you will choose a name for your cluster on the configuration page before saving your settings.

Connect Your Cluster:

Before you connect to your cluster, you will need to add entries to your IP whitelist, and add a MongoDB user to your project security settings. This user provides access to the clusters in your project, and will be separate from your Atlas login credentials. Your project security settings can be found on your cluster overview page, by clicking the security tab:


There is also a discussion forum within your course monitored by MongoDB University staff, and other students.
